Eat to Live: Whole Foods Plant-Based Diet

Dr. Savage, DO is a board-certified, diplomat of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, and his favorite book that goes deep into whole foods plant-based dieting and recipes is, Eat to Live by Dr. Fuhrman. This book is one of the best books to read because it sets the bar high enough that anyone can reach it, has structure, and contains goals that are not impossible to achieve.

How to Get Started

Harvard Health Publishing provides seven ways to jump start your health journey.

  1. Select a goal: Choose a goal that is best fit for you and only you.
  2. Ask the big question: Do I have a big dream that pairs with my health goal? If you cannot answer this question, it is fine.
  3. Pick your choice for change: Find something that you want to change for the better and stick with it.
  4. Commit yourself: Make a verbal or written commitment to yourself and your closest supporters.
  5. Scout out easy obstacles: Try your best to remove anything that is an obstacle from you reaching your goals.
  6. Brainstorm ways to leap over your obstacles: Think of ways to overcome these obstacles.
  7. Plan a simple reward: Reward yourself when you see progress, but try to steer away from food rewards when you can. (Harvard Health Publishing, 2010)

Who is Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D.?

Dr. Fuhrman is a board-certified family physician, author, and recognized expert on nutrition and natural healing. He specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional methods, coining the term, “Nutritarian. This term describes a nutrient-dense eating style that is made to prevent cancer, slow aging, and extend one’s lifespan.
